Epsom salts are renowned for their healing benefits and I’ve been taking Epsom salt baths for over 10 years. I can definitely tell the difference between when I salt bath regularly and when I don’t now!
To take an Epsom salt bath, you need quite a lot of Epsom salt. I get mine HERE, it’s the cheapest place with free delivery for 10kg, so will last you a good few months if you take regular Epsom salt baths. Use two cups of Epsom salts in a standard size bath. It’s best to use warm (not hot) water and pour the Epsom salts under the running water to help them dissolve a little quicker. Soak in the bath for around 15-20 minutes and shower off afterwards to avoid the skin drying out. You can also use Epsom salts in a small foot bath for tired and achy feet.
Here are some of the benefits of Epsom salt bathing and why I love it!
Epsom salts contain magnesium which aids loads of bodily functions and detoxification.
Soothes the skin (be mindful however, if you have open cuts or wounds). Can soften the skin and exfoliates dead skin cells.
Great for muscle aches and soreness. It can also be beneficial for joint pain too. the magnesium in the Epsom slats reduce swelling, inflammation and soreness.
Reduce stress. This could be because taking a 20 minutes soak in the bath is a great way to physically relax and an ideal time to meditate or practise mindfulness.
Draws out splinters. By soaking the area in Epsom salt water, the splinter is brought to the surface, the skin is softened around it, making it easier to remove.
Epsom salt baths are also great for healing bruises quicker and sunburn.
You also can make an Epsom salt bath more luxurious with essential oils if that tickles your fancy 🙂 Let me know if you’d ever tried epsom salt bathing and what benefits you got from it! Buy cheap 10kgs of Epsom salts HERE.
