It’s finally Spring!
Spring is one of my favourite seasons. I love watching the flowers bloom, taking cool walks, and checking out the new fashion trends at the mall. However, there are days where we may find ourselves tired, burnout, and overwhelmed with the idea of Spring cleaning, suffering from allergies, or with the seasonal changes. With that said, I am excited to be collaborating with Helen on writing this guest post on ways to practice self care this Spring season.
I love enjoying the warm weather just as much as the next person. However, it’s important to always make time for yourself and for self care. We tend to get so worried about redecorating the house, Easter, making summer plans, and cleaning that we forget to think about how this might affect us at the end of the day. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t slightly overwhelmed from Spring cleaning.
With that in mind, here are 10 ways to rejuvenate your body, mind, and soul with these 10 self care ideas.
Declutter Your Space: Clean up those old boxes, wrappers, and accessories laying around the house. Create a home that gives you the space needed to work and function, it improves your health, happiness, and overall well being.
Be Kind to Yourself: The best way to practice self kindness and compassion is through affirmations. Go to the bathroom, lock the door, stare at the mirror, and say “I Love You” a thousand times.
Exercise Outside for at Least 30 Minutes Daily: Take a walk around the neighbourhood or jog. Get your heart rate and blood running throughout the day. It’s good for your health and is one of the best forms of physical self-care.
Have a Spa Day: The flowers are blooming everywhere. Grab a few of your favourite scents, create some essential oils and scrubs, and pamper yourself with a DIY at-home spa day.
Buy Some New Flowers: In the winter, I’m all about apple-cinnamon or peppermint scented candles. But, in the Spring I love decorating the house with tons of fresh flowers. Buy some flowers, trust me, they’ll make you feel good (plus they smell good).
Increase Your Fruits and Vegetables Intake: Throw away those old chips, and grab some blueberries or broccoli. Healthy eating is important for your skin and your body, especially if your goal is to look good this summer.
Enjoy an Outdoor Picnic: Winter is over. So, why not grab some loved ones and enjoy a healthy picnic. You can prepare meals and buy some cards. Just don’t forget your masks!
Listen to Upbeat Music: Boost your mood with upbeat and lighthearted music from your favourite artists and musicians on Spotify or Apple Music. A new playlist is a sure way to enhance your Spring self-care routine.
Revamp Your Beauty and Skin Care Products: It’s time to throw away those heavy moisturisers and creams and replace them with light weight oils and serums. Your skin deserves it.
Remember that you are loved and not alone: Because it’s true!
Self-care is important because it helps you maintain a healthy relationship with yourself. It helps manifest and spread positive feelings of happiness and gratitude to loved ones and anyone who comes around you. Self-care includes everything from eating properly to getting a good night’s rest. They’re all ways you can manage stress, reduce anxiety and depression, and take care of your wellbeing.
Start your Spring season on the right foot by starting and implementing self care into your daily routine. Self Care is not meant to be overbearing, difficult, or complicated. It’s the small ways you treat yourself to the little things in life.
